Blue and white porcelain first came to the attention of Europeans when it was exported to the west from China. England’s blue and white transferware is highly collectible, particularly the pieces which depict historical events or places. We have been especially pleased to work with some lovely pieces, ranging in value from $100 per piece to $500.

Recently we were asked to sell a large collection of German steins. Some were tourist souvenirs while a few were Mettlach examples. Regimental or military steins are probably amongst the most desirable and most valuable and can be estimated in the hundreds of dollars.

Sir William Russell Flint (Scottish 1880 - 1969), painted the lovely watercolor shown here entitled “Rustic Venus”. It brought a realized price of $25,000 at auction.

Oil Ship Painting

Montague Dawson (British 1895 - 1973), R.A., naval painter. A client asked us to find a proper venue for the sale of this painting which had been inherited from a relative. She was unfamiliar with art sales and had no idea how to proceed. We were able to guide her Dawson oil through the auction process and the painting sold for $65,000.
